About Initiative

The Jewellers Association of Ghana President's Scholarship is an initiative aimed at aspiring, curious, and innovative individuals with keen Interests in acquiring skills in the Jewellery and Metalsmithing Industry and Utilise hands-on practical training through a 4 year program to become a major player in Ghanaian Jewellery Value Chain. JAG is extending its mandate to reach the next generation of players in the Ghanaian Jewellery Industry with the President’s Scholarship Initiative

JAG PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

Successfully gained admission to Jewellery and Metalsmithing  Program at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is about beginning the Second Year of Study for the Academic Year Starting January 2025.

Scholarship would be awarded to ONE brilliant and deserving student

Scholarship beneficiary would have to abide by the terms and conditions of the scholarship to enure continuous provision of scholarship benefits. Failure to do so would mean a termination of the scholarship program

Applicants for the Scholarship would go through a vetting and approval process by the Scholarship Board ensuring that the most deserving student is awarded.

Cyril Etornam Adala is a lecturer in Jewellery and Metalsmithing in the Department of Industrial Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.


Since his appointment as a Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Art, Cyril has served and continue to serve the university and the community in diverse ways. He has served on different committees at the faculty and departmental levels. From MFA Programme Coordinator for the Jewellery and Metalsmithing Programme to Sectional Coordinator for the Metal Product Design Section and Assistant Examinations Officer in the department.


His research interest focuses on sustainable development in metal product design with specific reference to design thinking and innovation, eco-friendly production technologies, challenges and prospects of the local metal fabrication industry. He is also passionate about bringing the local jewellery production industry in Ghana to an internationally accepted standard. He currently runs a home jewellery studio as a way of showcasing to the community, the processes and techniques of doing jewellery.

STUDENT MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

JAG also seeks to bridge a seeming gap between Jewellery Industry players and Students studying to become players in the sector.This partnership would seek to grow active participation by students in related fields in activities of the association providing them with mentorship and guidance whilst in school and even after completing their courses of study enabling them to transition smoothly into the industry.


JAG would engage students in symposiums, training and mentorship programs, seminars and several other initiatives to give students the leverage and knowledge to maximise opportunities in the Ghanaian jewellery value chain
