The list of JAG Members in Good Standing is periodically published in newspapers. This helps boost Consumer trust in Members, increasing the likelihood of their services being employed.

Representation

JAG (on the Executive Council level) maintains high-level links with all regulatory bodies in the precious minerals ecosystem to help ensure a fair, equitable and workable regulatory regime for the sector. JAG is also able to channel the concerns of Members of the industry to the Presidency of the State.

Training

JAG organizes lectures at our General meeting and training programs for Members, sometimes, for free or at a subsidized cost. All these training and conferences serve as the opportunity for you to earn CPD credits

Conferences

Our Annual Gold Statement Conference is a flagship program of the entire precious mineral industry that provides delegates (who are mainly artisanal miners and gemstone dealers manufacturers, retailers, Regulators and Other Stakeholders) the opportunity to network, share ideas and have a time of relaxation.

Knowledge Sharing

JAG through our WhatsApp group platforms, emails, conferences, events and General meetings share valuable knowledge and information with Members such as market guidelines, new regulatory requirements, press releases, etc. that affect jewellery value chain one way or another.

JAG provides compliance, technical and regulation support to Members where necessary. At our General meetings, Members are able to share their peculiar needs and have others help with the required solutions or advice.

JAG CODE OF CONDUCT

Members shall at all times, and in relation to all other parties, conduct their business activities with the utmost good faith and integrity.

Members shall place the interests of their clients before any other consideration, including their own remuneration.

Members undertake to avoid any malicious act or statement which may be damaging to the reputation and integrity of jeweller competitors or other members of the jewellery market, either individually or as a whole.

Statements made by or on behalf of members, whether in advertisements or otherwise, must be factual and must not contain misleading or extravagant claims.

Members shall not offer bribes  as inducement packages to induce clients  to shift business from a competitor to themselves.

JAG meetings shall be compulsory for all members and members shall not absent themselves from Association meetings. Such meetings shall be attended by only Principal Officers.

Members shall settle their annual subscription to JAG by the end of the first quarter of every year.

JAG Disciplinary Procedures

01

A report against a member for a breach of, or non-compliance with, any of the provisions of this Code, shall be made to the JAG Executive Council.

The Disciplinary committee shall investigate allegations and complaints within 30 days and it shall recommend the necessary action or sanction, including any appropriate disciplinary action, to the JAG Executive Council.

The JAG Executive Council shall promptly inform the complainant (or an informant) of the outcome of his case and the action taken.

The JAG Executive Council shall have the power to direct the offending member concerned to make amends, including warning, rectification, payment of a sum of money, or take any other actions as may be deemed necessary in favour of the aggrieved party, and the offender shall comply with the directive within 30)days.

The JAG Executive Council shall expel a member who is found guilty of a serious unprofessional conduct, abuse of office, or flagrant breach of the Code

A member against whom a disciplinary action is taken may, within 14 days upon receipt of the decision in writing, appeal to the Disciplinary Committee (JAG) for a review of the decision, and the Committee will then consult with JAG Executive Council for a review or confirmation of the decision.

For the purpose of enforcement of this Code, an act shall be deemed to have been committed by a member if it is committed by:The Board of Directors, Shareholders, The Managing Director or Chief Executive, A Director, Manager, Officer, or Employee in the course of his duty

Any member of JAG who fails to attend monthly meetings for 3 consecutive times without reasonable cause shall be liable to fine of ¢500

The Code may be amended or rescinded, either in part or in whole, by a simple majority decision of the Association (JAG)

Upon adoption of the Code by JAG by resolution, all  members shall abide by, and respect, at all times, the terms and the spirit of the Code.

In the event of any conflict of meaning or interpretation of any aspect of the Code, involving the laws of Ghana (existing/prevailing) and the Code, the Laws of Ghana shall prevail.
